Property Description

Thompson LES/ a luxury hotel located in the original artistic and diverse neighborhood of the Manhattans Lower East Side/ is the next highly anticipated property to open in Thompson Hotel portfolio. Conceptually designed by Ed Rawlings Architects and Dodd Mitchell Design/ and interior design by Jim Walrod/ the hotel embodies the ultimate in clean/ contemporary New York style with its industrial loft-like feel. The classically modern/ 18-story hotel is located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan/ right below Houston Street. The hotel features over 140 rooms/ most of which look over Allen Street boulevard/ and have views of Manhattan that are unlike any within the neighborhood. One can see past the Chrysler building/ and beyond the Hudson and East Rivers. There will be a 120 seat destination restaurant with an additional separate entrance on Orchard Street/ an outdoor swimming pool with a bar on its 3rd floor/ as well as a guests and members-only bar on its lush landscaped rooftop/ echoing A60/ the private and popular open-air bar atop the 60 Thompson hotel. The views from this outdoor bar face west and have spectacular views of the Hudson. The average size of the room is in excess of 425 square feet and offers an industrial loft-like feel. This hotel is also unprecedented in its prestigious partnerships with world-renowned artists. The images displayed in Thompson LES are of figures within the Andy Warhol circle/ people and stories that have made cultural American history. The images of Lee Friedlander will adorn the light box headboards of the beds in each room. The artwork gracing the hotel swimming pool floor will be an image of Andy Warhol himself taken as a film still. Stephen Shore photography will be on display in the public spaces of the hotel.

Directions

The Lower East Side/ the area that stretches from Houston Street to Delancey Street and bordered by Bowery Street and the East River/ is quickly becoming one of the most exciting and eclectic neighborhoods in Manhattan. Originally a stomping ground for Jewish immigrants/ recent decades have seen an influx of artists and hip professionals alike/ thus establishing the neighborhood as a vibrant city center. The Lower East Side is both an up and coming cosmopolitan destination/ with a slew of cant-be-missed restaurants/ bars and shopping/ and a neighborhood deeply rooted in its own cultural history. Artists live here and now everyone else wants to as well. Upscale boutiques and restaurants have opened on Ludlow/ Stanton and Chrystie Streets. Right down the street is an outlandish cabaret club that makes nightlife headlines. Unlike other New York neighborhoods whose trademark energy has faded with passing years/ the LES is a constant whirlwind/ where tattoo artists and Hollywood starlets can both find something to dream about.
